Country Restrictions

China

China Telecom blocks all calls with local Chinese ANI [origination phone number] that originate from outside the country (i.e. Singapore).

Carrier Feedback
"China is a one of a handful of countries that do not allow for local CLI [caller ID] to be presented on out of country calls."

"Please note that call termination to China does NOT support Chinese caller ID (except China Roaming cell phones). Any call with a Chinese caller ID to China will be rejected by the provider. This is a known issue and the only work around is to use a Hong Kong caller ID (+852)."

Japan

Japan will strip off the caller ID if a local Japanese ANI [origination phone number] originates from outside the country.

Carrier Feedback
"I have seen this condition in Japan. The local carriers will pass the outbound caller ID as Unknown if you present a local in country number as the caller ID on local calls."

Hong Kong

Hong Kong may block all calls with local Hong Kong ANI [origination phone number] that originate from outside the country.

Carrier Feedback
"I believe Hong Kong has the same restrictions as China."

"International caller ID is not guaranteed for calls to Hong Kong numbers. This is an issue as our calls are routed to an international gateway."

Our upstream carrier is unable to resolve any caller ID issues to Hong Kong numbers.
